Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 May 2026
Bankroll Bob ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit bankrollbob.com, why we collect it, what we do with it, and the rights you have over it.
We've tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, get in touch at [privacy@bankrollbob.com.
1. Who we are
Bankroll Bob is an independent casino review and information website focused on the Canadian online gambling market. "Bankroll Bob" is currently operated as a trading name rather than an incorporated business.
For the purposes of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the operators of Bankroll Bob act as the data controller of any personal information collected about you through this website.
The best way to reach us about anything in this policy is by email — see Section 13.
2. What we collect
We collect two kinds of information.
Information you give us directly
- Newsletter sign-ups — your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Contact form messages — your name, email address, and the contents of any message you send us via our contact page.
- Comments or feedback — any information you choose to share when contacting us about a casino review or other content.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, we (and our service providers) automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- IP address and approximate geographic location (country/region level).
- Device type, browser type and version, operating system.
- Pages you visit, time spent on each page, referring URL, and clicks on outbound links (including affiliate links).
- Date and time of your visit.
This data is collected through cookies and similar technologies — see Section 6 below.
We do not knowingly collect:
- Payment card details, bank account numbers, or other financial credentials.
- Government identification numbers.
- Information from anyone we know to be under 19 years of age.
3. Why we collect it (and our legal basis)
- Sending you the newsletter you subscribed to — based on your consent.
- Responding to messages you send us — based on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
- Measuring how the site is used so we can improve it — based on our legitimate interest, or your consent where analytics cookies are used.
- Tracking affiliate referrals so partner casinos can credit us — based on our legitimate interest.
- Detecting fraud, abuse, or security threats — based on our legitimate interest.
- Complying with legal obligations — based on legal obligation.
You can withdraw consent at any time — see Section 8.
4. Affiliate links and how we earn money
Bankroll Bob is an affiliate website. When you click a link to a casino on our site and go on to register or deposit, we may receive a commission from that casino. This is how we fund the site.
To make this work, when you click an affiliate link:
- A unique tracking identifier is attached to the URL.
- The casino's own systems record that the click came from us.
- We may receive aggregated reports from the casino showing how many users clicked through and (where applicable) signed up.
We do not receive your name, email address, deposit amounts, or any gambling activity from our casino partners — only aggregated statistics.
Affiliate commission does not influence our reviews or scoring. You can read more about our editorial process at How we review casinos.
5. Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share limited information with the following categories of service providers, only to the extent needed for them to do their job:
- Webflow — our website hosting platform.
- Google Analytics — for understanding site traffic and user behaviour. [CONFIRM if used]
- [CONFIRM: Email platform, e.g. Mailchimp / ConvertKit] — for delivering our newsletter.
- Affiliate networks and casino partners — for tracking referrals (see Section 4).
- Law enforcement or regulators — only where we are legally required to disclose information.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy. Where any of them are based outside of Canada, your information may be transferred internationally and stored on servers in other countries (including the United States and the European Union). We rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for these transfers.
6. Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. We use:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site to work (e.g. remembering your cookie preferences). These don't need consent.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics [CONFIRM] to measure site usage. These are only set with your consent.
- Affiliate tracking cookies — set when you click through to a casino partner, so the partner can credit your visit to us. These typically last between 30 and 90 days depending on the partner.
You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics or affiliate cookies will not affect the content you can read on the site.
7. How long we keep it
- Newsletter email addresses — kept until you unsubscribe.
- Contact form messages — kept for up to 24 months after our last contact with you.
- Analytics data — kept for up to 26 months (the Google Analytics default).
- Affiliate referral records — kept as required by our affiliate partners, typically 12–24 months.
- Server logs — kept for up to 90 days.
We may retain information for longer if we are required to by law or to defend a legal claim.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over the personal information we hold about you. Under Canadian, EU, UK, and California law these include:
- Access — request a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix anything that's inaccurate.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your information ("right to be forgotten" under GDPR).
- Withdraw consent — particularly for the newsletter and analytics cookies.
- Object — to certain types of processing.
- Portability — receive your information in a portable format.
- Complain — to a data protection regulator.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@bankrollbob.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to:
- Canada: Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada — priv.gc.ca
- UK: Information Commissioner's Office — ico.org.uk
- EU: Your local data protection authority
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption across the site, access controls on our internal systems, and vetted service providers. No system is perfectly secure, however, so we can't guarantee absolute security of any information transmitted to or from the site.
10. Children
Online gambling is restricted to adults. The legal age varies by Canadian province (18 or 19). Our content is intended only for adults of legal gambling age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 19. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Responsible gambling
While not strictly a privacy matter, we want to flag it here: if you or someone you know is struggling with gambling, free and confidential support is available in Canada through ConnexOntario (1-866-531-2600) and the Canada Safety Council. See our Responsible Gambling page for more.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify newsletter subscribers by email.
